Description
Portrait of a freshly planted purple columbine plant in a large pot on my terrace at home.
Aquilegia flowers are very interesting and have rather negative symbolism because of a medieval tale about a lustful and capricious prince who tormented his shy and chaste princess bride with reprehensible actions . The ladies of the court wanted to protect the unhappy princess and went to a magician who transformed the selfish, treacherous, and lustful prince into the columbine flower, a strangely shaped flower full of horns so that, having this shape no lover dares to give his beloved this kind of plant.
