Description
Marine scenery of the Trapani Salt Pans in southern Italy, where salt processing takes place.
In the salt pans of Trapani, salt is extracted from seawater and becomes salt by spontaneous evaporation as a consequence of the warm-humid climate and the physical structure of the coasts that are continuously exposed to hot and dry winds.
At the salt pans there are very old windmills that were used to grind salt and to bring water from the sea and make it go into the salt pans.
